Mihaela Rădescu

b. 1962, Brașov

Mihaela Rădescu studied at the Szentgyörgy István Theatre Institute, Tîrgu Mureş, graduating in 1987. From 1987 to 1995, she was an actress at the Tîrgu Mureş National Theatre, where she appeared in more than twenty productions of classic and contemporary plays.

Since 1996, she has been an actress at the Little Theatre in Bucharest, where she has appeared in productions of Gelu Colceag and Vlad Corbeanu’s Guilty. Not Guilty, Marius von Mayenburg’s Martyrs, Theo Herghelegiu’s East Meets West?, Frank Wedekind’s Spring Awakening, Christopher Durang’s Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike, Catinca Drăgănescu’s The Super-Happy Ones, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in the rôle of Hippolyta, Ioana Păun and Mona Bozdog’s Zero Decibels, Maria Manolescu’s Just like You Yourself, and Mihaela Michailov’s Forbidden Under the Age of 18.

Associated with the Monday Theatre at the Green Hours café in Bucharest, she is a pioneer of Romanian independent theatre and has performed in numerous alterative venues. With fellow actors, she founded the Replika Cultural Association in 2011, which in 2015 led to the opening of the Replika Educational Theatre Centre, an interdisciplinary cultural space.
