Alex Ștefănescu

b. 1988, Bucharest

Alex Ştefănescu studied acting at the National University of Theatrical and Cinematic Arts in Bucharest before attending the London International School of Performing Arts. Since returning to Bucharest, he has worked with every major theatre, in productions large and small. He has always been drawn to musical theatre and has had the opportunity to be cast in a number of productions directed by Răzvan Mazilu, including West Side Story and We Will Rock You. For two years, he was a full-time actor in the ensemble of the Ion Creangă Theatre in Bucharest.

In addition to his work in theatre, he composes songs and has created three one-man shows in which he sings while accompanying himself on the guitar: The Day of Obliviousness (a musical journey into the soul of urban man), 9 Remixed Plays (nine famous plays retold to music in his own idiosyncratic way), and The Cure. His musical journey began in Bucharest at the Unteatru independent theatre and then took him all over the country and even abroad, to London and Luxembourg. He has also appeared on the iUmor and Românii au Talent (Romanians Have Talent) television shows.
